Serbia and Montenegro's national team head coach Ilja Petkovič has announced the names of 23 players who will travel to Germany to play in the World Cup.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is the invitation extended to Ivano Ergić, as this player has never played for the Serbian national team. The player from Basel, who has been suffering from mononucleosis for 2 years, impressed the national team coaches while playing for his club and was unexpectedly rewarded with a call-up to the team.

However, apart from this player, there are no more surprises in the composition - the coach relies on the same players who finished first in the World Cup qualifying group and outperformed Spain.

Leading this team once again are Dejan Stanković, Mirko Vučinić, and Mateja Kežman.
