Ivan Turina, a goalkeeper for the Swedish club AIK from Croatia, was found dead in his apartment in Stockholm on Thursday.

Investigators cannot determine the cause of death and report that the 32-year-old man simply died in his sleep.

The Croatian represented his national team in 2006 and moved from Zagreb's "Dinamo" to AIK club in 2010, where he played 89 matches and kept the goal dry 35 times.

During his career, he also played in Greece and Poland.

The Swedish AIK football club issued a statement: "Our club sympathizes with Ivan's partner and their two daughters, as well as other relatives and friends for this tragic event. We have informed the team and all employees about what happened. We hope for everyone's understanding."

Ivan Turina had already agreed to extend his contract until 2016.
