On Tuesday, three matches of the 30th round of the Spanish "La Liga" championship were played.
The first match took place in the capital, where local Madrid "Atletico" hosted "Girona" footballers. Diego Simeone's team broke through the opponent's defense only in the second half of the match.
In the 76th minute, Diego Godin put the hosts ahead, and Antoine Griezmann secured the victory with a great shot at the end of the match.
"Atletico" remains in second place with 62 points. "Girona" is in 14th position.
In the other matches, a real drama was recorded, which ended in a draw between "Villarreal" and "Barcelona."
Without Lionel Messi, the Catalans had a two-goal advantage after the first 20 minutes - Philippe Coutinho and Malcom scored the goals.
However, "Vilarreal" managed to fight back after the second goal and scored four goals in response. Samuel Chukwueze reduced the deficit in the 23rd minute, and Karim Ekambi equalized at the beginning of the second half.
In the 62nd minute, "Villarreal" unexpectedly took the lead, and in the 80th minute, they scored a fourth goal.
However, things changed in the 86th minute when Alvaro received a red card, and "Villarreal" had to play with ten men. It seemed that "Villarreal" would not let go of the three points, but the visitors had other plans.
In added time, Lionel Messi scored a fantastic penalty to reduce the deficit, and almost at the last moment of the match, Luis Suarez unleashed a "cannon" from a corner kick, leaving "Villarreal" fans disappointed - the result was 4:4.
"Villarreal" was supposed to secure crucial three points, but after the draw, they can fall back to 18th place. Meanwhile, "Barcelona" remains firmly in first place, but "Atletico," eight points behind, will visit "Camp Nou" next weekend, where a victory would bring excitement back to the title race.
