Egypt's national team began the World Cup with a dramatic 0:1 defeat to the Uruguay team. In these matches, Mohamed Salah did not help the Egyptians, but the representatives of Africa still held their ground.
The most contributing player was Egypt's goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, who did everything he could to help his team fight for at least a point. The goalkeeper repelled dangerous Uruguayan shots several times, but in the 89th minute, he was defeated by Uruguayan defender Jose Gimenez.
Nevertheless, El Shenawy was named the player of the match. However, due to his faith, he refused the award given by the alcohol company "Budweiser", which sponsors the best players of the matches during the World Cup.
Footballers from Saudi Arabia and Iran should also refuse such awards. However, in the first matches of these national teams, their opponents were chosen as the match players.
.@FIFAcom have a deal with @Budweiser for the #ManoftheMatch award. Being alcohol, there are 3 North African nations + Saudi & Iran in the @FIFAWorldCup. Did they not think these guys won’t accept the award? #EGY’s @Melshenawy did not take his today.
