It becomes clear why Lucas Paqueta's transfer to Manchester City did not happen.

Daily Mail revealed that the English Football Association (FA) has started an investigation into West Ham's attacking midfielder's involvement in sports betting.

According to the media, the suspects are Paqueta's relatives, who were placing bets on "Hammers" matches.

It is unclear whether the Brazilian will be able to participate in the weekend match against Chelsea. However, it is likely that the investigation will take some time, as was the case with Ivan Toney. He was banned from playing football professionally for eight months due to his personal participation in betting.

Manchester City was prepared to spend big money for Paqueta.
