The English Football Association (FA) imposed fines and penalties on teams for incidents during the "Premier" league match on January 20.

In this match, Sheffield club football player Keith Gillespie hit his opponent Stephen Hunt with his hand and was sent off the field. Shortly after, there was an incident between both teams' coaches off the pitch. Reading's coach Wally Downes attacked Sheffield Utd's coach Neil Warnock and threatened to hit him.

Later, Reading coach Steve Coppell stated that his assistant W. Downes told him that he knew N.Warnock instructed his players to deliberately attack Reading players aggressively before the match.

After thoroughly investigating this incident, the FA announced penalties. Sheffield Utd was fined 10,000 pounds, while Reading must pay 5,000 pounds. In addition, W. Downes was also fined 2,000 pounds.
