This week both semi-final matches of the French Cup tournament were played, after which it was revealed that in the final the teams "Auxerre" and "Sedan" will meet.

On Tuesday, in the first semi-final, one of the strongest "Ligue 1" teams "Auxerre" met "Nimes" from a lower division.
Although "Auxerre" were considered clear favorites for this match, the players of these teams failed to beat the opponent's goalkeeper in the first half - after 45 minutes of play the scoreboard showed 0-0.
The situation changed in the second half. Just 2 minutes into the half, a penalty was awarded to "Nimes," which was successfully converted by Bonaventure Kalou, giving his team the lead.
The lead of "Auxerre" doubled in the 77th minute, when a goal was scored by Teemu Tainio, a Finnish legionnaire from the Auxerre team. After this goal, "Nimes" did not give up and managed to reduce the gap, but it was too late as Matthias Verschave scored a goal in injury time.
The match ended with a score of 2-1. It is worth mentioning that "Nimes" finished the match with 10 players as Siramana Dembele was sent off the field in the 89th minute.

The next semi-final match was played on Wednesday at the Stade Louis II stadium in Monaco. The local team "Monaco" met "Sedan," playing in the second league.
Didier Deschamps' players started the match with a serious attitude. The victory was sought by both the team and Didier Deschamps himself, as all the main club footballers were brought onto the field.
Like in the first semi-final, the first half here was goalless, so the teams went into the break with a 0-0 score.
After the break, "Monaco" continued to attack the opponent's goal, but in the 74th minute, "Sedan" player Mickael Citoni broke through on the left side, deceived Patrice Evra and with a great shot left no chance for "Monaco" goalkeeper Flavio Roma.
After the conceded goal, the "Monaco" players were a bit shaken and until the end of the match they could not recover - the match ended with a surprising victory for "Sedan" 0-1.
So in the French Cup final at the end of May, the 6th placed team in "Ligue 1" "Auxerre" will meet the 5th placed "Ligue 2" team "Sedan."
