Germany's football star Bastian Schweinsteiger recently began a new phase in his career and moved from "Manchester United" to play in the USA. Although the player representing Chicago's "Fire" team was welcomed as a celebrity across the Atlantic, an American journalist managed to mock, demonstrating that football is not the most popular sport in the country, wrote lrytas.lt.
The 32-year-old B. Schweinsteiger participated in the presentation of the Chicago club on Wednesday, and a room full of journalists gathered for the event.
When it was time to ask questions, one of them casually inquired if the German expected to help the "Fire" club win the World Cup. The confused player turned to the club's manager next to him and, after a short consultation, prepared to make a comment. However, the journalist asked again:
"Bastian, do you think the team's desire to play in the World Cup is possible?" he tried to clarify.
Realizing that the journalist simply did not understand football, B. Schweinsteiger and the club's manager decided to politely explain that the Chicago team does not aim for the World Cup and spoke about the MLS championships.
