Former player of the Dutch football club Ajax Amsterdam Abubakari Yakubu passed away in a hospital after an illness, only at the age of 35.
The cause of the footballer's death is not disclosed. A. Yakubu graduated from the Ajax youth football academy. He made his debut in the main lineup of the Amsterdam team in 2000 and represented the club for six seasons.
The footballer also played for the Arnhem team Vitesse. From 2002 to 2006, he wore the jersey of the Ghana national football team and participated in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
The African player twice became the champion of the Dutch league and once won the country's cup.
