Former Russian national football team captain Roman Shirokov could sit behind bars for a long time. The 39-year-old player, who has already ended his professional career, last month began to settle scores with fists and feet in the Russian amateur league and brutally beat up referee Nikita Danchenko, and now very serious charges are being brought against him, lrytas.lt reports. The lawyer of the beaten referee accuses the famous Russian footballer of attempted murder. The former national team captain attacked the match official over an unawarded penalty. Shirokov shoved the referee and threatened to hit him if he showed a card. In the end, the referee decided to eject the troublemaker from the field, and then Shirokov struck him in the head. Later, he once again kicked the fallen referee.
