More than two-thirds of French football fans would like to see "Lyon" goalkeeper G.Coupet in the national team's goal during the World Cup in Germany this summer.

In a survey conducted by "France Football," 69 percent of participating fans voted for G.Coupet, while only 28 percent would prefer to continue seeing long-time national team goalkeeper, Fabien Barthez representing "Marseille" in goal.

34-year-old F.Barthez has been the main goalkeeper of the French national team since the victorious 1998 World Cup, and in 2000, he helped France win the European Championship.

During a five-month suspension for striking a referee, the 33-year-old G.Coupet defended the goal for the French national team, having helped "Lyon" win four consecutive French championship titles.

It was expected that the French national team coach Raymond Domenech would announce the owner of the main goalkeeper position last November, but the coach delayed the decision and hinted that he would probably decide on March 1, when "Les Bleus" will host the Slovakian national team at home.
