After the tests carried out on Tuesday, it was revealed that defender Christian Schulz will not be able to help the German national team in the Confederations Cup.
The 22-year-old Werder Bremen defender suffered an injury back on June 4th, but the final verdict was only revealed after thorough examinations conducted yesterday.
German national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann stated that the team does not intend to invite another player in place of C. Schulz: "We do not want to invite players from the World Youth Championship in the Netherlands, as they will gain more experience there. We also do not want to invite players from vacation, as they will be in poor form."
This loss means that the tournament host Germany, just before the start of the Confederations Cup, is left with only five nominal defenders, whose average age is almost 23 years old.
