In the quarter-finals of the European Championship, the ambitious Germans, not hiding their ambitions, stepped onto the field, wanting to surprise the Slovaks. J. Lowe's protégés easily crushed their opponents 3-0 and advanced to the next stage of the competition. The World champions immediately started dominating on the field - the opportunity fell to S. Khedira. Soon, the first goal of the match fell - the ball after a corner fell right at the feet of J. Boateng and with a long-range shot left no chances for Kozacik. In the 13th minute, the score could have been 2-0, but M. Ozil failed to convert a penalty kick awarded for Skrtel's foul on M. Gomez. The lost Slovaks could not create anything in the other half of the field, while J. Lowe's players had several more chances to score. Finally, at the end of the half, the Germans made a mistake - Hector passed the ball back riskily, but M. Neuer corrected the error by saving the ball. In the 40th minute, Kucka won an aerial duel in the penalty area but M. Neuer was again secure. A few minutes later, J. Draxler made a great run into the penalty area and M. Gomez simply had to direct the ball into the goal - 2-0. In the second half, the Slovaks tried to play more boldly and at least score a consolation goal. But the final blow was delivered by J. Draxler, who skillfully saddened Jan Kozak's charges once again.
