"The 'Future CUP 2015' tournament last weekend was contested by teenagers, with the winners being young players from Riga's 'Metta' from Latvia. Victory in the tournament was determined by penalty shootouts both in the semifinals and the final. In second place was Helsinki's 'Kapa', who demonstrated a strong game, while third place went to the footballers from Turin's 'Juventus'. This was the first time that 'Old Lady' from Lithuania went abroad without winning the main cup.
"I am not disappointed with the loss - I am disappointed in how we missed the goal. As for the penalty shootouts, I have no complaints for my players. I am a coach who always loses penalty shootouts," assessed 'Juventus' coach Alessandro Calcia.
"I want to commend your tournament, because we got everything we needed here. The food is great, the playing conditions are excellent, and the old town also left a good impression. We were really satisfied with our trip to Lithuania," said the coach.
The best-performing Lithuanian teams were the students from the Baltic Football Academy, who finished in eighth place. One place below was the Lithuanian champion Vilnius Football School.
"The final result may not have been very successful, but we lacked luck. Our group was very evenly matched, where one goal could change everything. For example, playing against 'Metta', we had quite a few chances. Later, our opponents could have guaranteed us a higher position, but they played against us with the wrong result. We wanted to play against 'Juventus', but overall, we didn't perform so poorly," said Vilnius FM coach, former legendary 'Žalgiris' footballer Edvardas Malkevičius.
This weekend, the seventh and final 'Future CUP' weekend is awaiting, where young footballers born in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 will compete."
