The final of the 2014 Italian Supercup between the country's champions "Juventus" and the cup tournament winners "Napoli" will be played on December 22 in the Qatari capital of Doha.
The official announcement was made at a press conference in Paris, attended by "Serie A" president Maurizio Beretta and the general secretary of the Qatar Football Association, Saoud Al Mohannadi. It will soon be decided which stadium in Doha the Italian teams will play at.
The Supercup final traditionally took place in August just before the start of the "Serie A" championship, but due to the participation of "Napoli" in the UEFA Champions League qualifying stage, it was postponed to December.
This is not the first time the final is being held abroad. Italian clubs have competed for the Italian Super Cup in the United States, Libya, and three times in China. However, this will be the first time that teams will compete for the Supercup trophy in winter.
Last year, the final was played at the "Olimpico" stadium in Rome, where the Turin team crushed the "Lazio" team 4-0. "Juventus" along with "Milan" have won the Italian Supercup the most times - six each.
