The coaching staff of Kaunas district FC "Hegelmann" has been supplemented by Vilnius native Arijus Skaržauskas, who holds a UEFA goalkeeper B license.
The 25-year-old specialist arrives in Kaunas with a diverse experience in coaching goalkeepers.
Arijus started his coaching career at the age of just 20, training young goalkeepers at the Vilnius Football Academy "Žalgirietis". Later, the ambitious young coach was noticed by the Lithuanian Football Federation. For the past three years, A. Skaržauskas has been invited to work with youth national team goalkeepers and train the goalkeepers of the Lithuanian national women's team.
Since the summer of 2020, A. Skaržauskas has worked with the goalkeepers of Vilnius FK "Žalgiris" B team and constantly assisted the main team's goalkeeper coaches.
In the last season, the new FC "Hegelmann" goalkeeper coach's career path led to Finland. There, A. Skaržauskas worked for eight months at the club JS "Hercules" in the city of Oulu. He assisted the goalkeeper coaches of the club's A and B teams and trained the goalkeepers of the academy's U13, U14, U15, U17 teams. The season ended for the Vilnius native at another Finnish club, IF "Gnistan", where he was responsible for the development of young goalkeepers.
"The main reason why I chose to continue my career at the "Hegelmann" club is the coaching staff. I have worked with Andrius Skerla in the youth national teams, and have had discussions with the assistants on tactical or analytical issues on more than one occasion. I immediately understood that this would be a great place to grow as a coach," - A. Skaržauskas said about joining the blue and white club.
"Hegelmann" started preparations for the new season on Monday, and on January 20, they will play their first friendly match.
