The legendary and historically acclaimed Serbian coach R. Antic has passed away

The football communities of Spain and Serbia were shocked by a painful loss - at the age of 72, Radomir Antic passed away. He was battling with cancer.

R. Antic left the biggest mark in Spain, where he both played as a footballer and worked as a coach. He is the only coach in football history to have managed three of the biggest Spanish clubs - Madrid's "Real", "Barcelona", and "Atletico".

Most of his work was done at the "Atletico" club, where he worked a total of three times. In the 1995-96 season, the "rojiblancos" led by him won the Spanish champions and King's Cup titles.

He began his coaching career at the "Real Zaragoza" team, where he had previously played. Later, he took over the reins at Madrid's "Real" and worked there for almost a year.

In 2003, he became the coach of "Barcelona" when Louis van Gaal was relieved of his duties. The Serb spent less than half a year at "Barca".

During his coaching career, he also worked at "Real Oviedo", Vigo's "Celta" and Chinese clubs. From 2008 to 2010, he served as the head coach of the Serbian national team.

In 1996, R. Antic was elected the best coach of the year, and in 2009 - the best in Serbia.

The Atletico family is in mourning for the loss of one of our legendary coaches: Radomir Antic. You will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace.
