Lithuanian men's national football team reached the capital of Montenegro, Podgorica, on Wednesday afternoon, where they will conclude their performance in the European Championship qualifying tournament on Thursday.

The Montenegro and Lithuania match will start at 21:45, and it will be broadcasted live (for free) on the VIAPLAY platform.

The Lithuanian national team traveled to Montenegro on a chartered flight, which lasted about two and a half hours. On Wednesday evening, the team still has a press conference and an official training session at the match venue - the central stadium of Podgorica, which accommodates about 11 thousand spectators.

Unfortunately, Eligijus Jankauskas did not travel to Podgorica due to injury.

This stadium was opened in 1945, and its last renovation was completed in 2006. Currently, only the Montenegrin national team plays at this stadium.

In front of their fans, the Montenegrins played a 0:0 draw against Hungary, lost 0:2 to Serbia, and defeated Bulgaria's footballers 2:1.

Remember that the first match between Lithuania and Montenegro on September 7th in Kaunas provided fans with extraordinary intrigue. Gytis Paulauskas had taken the Lithuanian national team ahead, but the guests responded with two goals. However, in extra time, team captain Fedor Chernykh scored a great shot from outside the penalty area to equalize the score to 2:2.

"Those matches are still vivid in all of our memories. They were a serious opponent, maybe somewhere we even thought about winning since we were leading 1-0, but later we conceded two goals.

They are the oldest team in our group, which means they have a lot of experience, and they demonstrated that by scoring two goals against us back then.

The end of that match was definitely emotional, and maybe it was a signal for us that anything is possible," recalled national team coach Edgaras Jankauskas.

Before the last national team window of this year, the situation in the table between Lithuania and Montenegro is quite similar. The Lithuanians have accumulated 6 points in seven played matches and currently hold the fourth position in the group, while the Montenegrin team collected 8 points in six matches and is ranked higher, third.
