After this loss, the Qatar national team entered the history of the World Championships, though not from a positive perspective.
Qatar became the first World Cup host team to lose the opening match.
This defeat also greatly complicates the chances of Qatari footballers to advance to the next stage, as until now the host team has only made it to the knock-out stages once.
