On Thursday, FIFA announced the new national team rankings. The Lithuanian national team led by Edgaras Jankauskas did not drop down - from 139th position, the national team climbed up to 138th.
The total points of the Lithuanian national team did not change. E. Jankauskas' coached team is surpassed by four future national teams in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. These are England (10th place), Slovakia (32nd), Scotland (40th), and Slovenia (58th).
Lithuania is ahead of only one opponent - Malta. The latter dropped from 164th place to 165th.
So far, the Lithuanian national team cannot boast of a successful ranking among the Baltic countries. Estonia is the only team that is in the top hundred (93rd place), while Latvia ranks 107th.
At the top of the FIFA rankings is the world vice-champion Argentina (1532 points).
