The Lithuanian national team played a friendly match against the national team of Azerbaijan in Azerbaijan on Monday. Valdas Urbonas' players partially redeemed themselves after losing in Luxembourg and played against the Azerbaijani national team in a goalless draw. At the beginning of the match, the Lithuanians appeared to be more active and tried to press their opponents. The most dangerous opportunity our team created came in the 18th minute of the game when the team's captain F. Černychas struck from a distance. The best opportunity in the match came in the 30th minute for the hosts, when R. Sheydaev struck powerfully towards goal from the penalty area, but E. Zubas successfully saved the ball. At the end of the first half, the initiative was further taken by the Azerbaijani footballers, but the Lithuanians managed to defend in a disciplined manner. The second half belonged to the hosts, however, neither team had any real opportunities to score, and the final whistle confirmed the goalless draw.
