On Wednesday, the extended list of the Lithuanian national team for the 2006 World Cup qualifying match away against the San Marino national team was announced.

The Lithuanian national team football players will gather in Vilnius on November 13th, and the next morning they will fly to San Marino, where on November 17th they will face the national team of that country. Most of the players playing abroad will fly directly to San Marino, so not all team members will gather in Vilnius and joint training sessions will take place on the go.

N.Barasa will not be able to play in the match against the San Marino team due to his second yellow card, I.Dedura was not invited due to injury, and there are doubts about whether both main attackers will recover from injuries. However, defenders D.Šemberas and D.Česnauskis will finally return to the team. The final composition of the players will be determined on the day before departure.

"At the moment, there is a big question mark regarding the performance of R. Poškaus and E.Jankausko on the field. The match is definitely very difficult for several reasons - we simply have to win, there can be no talk of a draw. The match is especially difficult psychologically."

"Without achieving victory, we cannot think about points. There is also another danger looming - many national team players already have one yellow card, and the first match next year awaits them against the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina."

"I hope that D.Šemberas and D.Česnauskis will seamlessly integrate into the team's collective game without major difficulties. The players' attitude towards the match against the San Marino team is very strong, the goal of this match would be to strive for a quick first goal in the first half of the match, so that it would be easier to compete in the second half," said Lithuania's national team head coach Algimantas Liubinskas.
