The journey of the Lithuanian futsal national team at the home world championship has ended. In the last group match, they suffered their biggest defeat - Eugenijus Ryvkino's players lost 2:6 to the Costa Rican team. However, the match started well for the Lithuanian team. Already in the 8th minute, the Lithuanians broke through after Genaro Samsoniko's goal. Just two minutes later, Costa Rican goalkeeper Cesar Vargas was punished with a red card for handling the ball outside the penalty area. Then, Ryvkino's players had a two-minute advantage with one player, but they failed to take advantage of this opportunity. The end of the first half was simply tragic. The Costa Ricans scored one goal after a painful mistake by the Lithuanians in the middle of the field, and another after a 10-meter penalty, when the Lithuanians committed their sixth foul of the half. In the second half, Costa Rica scored three more goals without response, deciding the fate of the match. Later, Justinas Zagurskas narrowed the result. And in the last seconds of the match, the guests scored the final goal after a mistake by Lithuanian goalkeeper Edgaras Zagaras. Costa Rica still holds theoretical chances to advance to the knockout stage, while the Lithuanians' participation in the world championship is over.
