UEFA has decided to take serious action and start punishing clubs that do not adhere to the established financial rules (Financial Fair Play).

The first victim of their own actions is the "Manchester City" club, which has been squandering millions. The team controlled by Sheikh Mansour has been given a huge monetary fine and restrictions for the next season of the UEFA Champions League tournament.

UEFA has fined the "Citizens" 49 million pounds (about 60 million euros) and next season Manuel Pellegrini will only be able to use 21 players in the prestigious continental tournament, instead of 25.

Furthermore, out of these 21 players, 8 must be homegrown players from the club itself.

"Man City" has also been given a "wage cap": next season, players' salaries cannot increase compared to this season.

The team has until the end of the week to reach an agreement with UEFA, otherwise the decision will be passed on to the Club Financial Control Body and the imposed penalties will take effect.

The French newspaper "L'Equipe" reports that even stricter sanctions could be applied to Paris Saint-Germain.

It is announced that these are just 2 out of 9 European clubs whose financial activities are being closely examined by UEFA.

However, none of the clubs are likely to receive the harshest punishment - exclusion from UEFA-organized European football tournaments.
