On Sunday at 14:00 Lithuanian time, the 5th round match of the English Premier League took place.
Watford, in front of their own fans, clashed with the team of Manchester United, who suffered their first defeat in the previous round. Jose Mourinho's team did not show good gameplay in this match and were forced to admit the advantage of the Swans with a score of 3-1.
Manchester United recognized the advantage of another team from Manchester in the previous round, and on Thursday they also fell in the UEFA Europa League. J. Mourinho's team wanted to rehabilitate themselves today, but the hosts were not going to give up points easily.
Odion Ighalo had a great opportunity to put Watford ahead in the 12th minute, but he did not take advantage of David De Gea's mistake and failed to accurately send the ball into the empty goal.
Later, Paul Pogba was close to scoring, but his long shot did not reach the target - the ball hit the crossbar.
In the 34th minute, the Vicarage Road stadium erupted when, after a great pass from Daryl Janmaat, Etienne Capoue beat the Red Devils' goal. However, the episode was very controversial, as the referee did not signal a foul on Anthony Martial when the ball was taken just outside the penalty area.
After this incident, A. Martial could no longer continue the match and was replaced by Ashley Young in the 38th minute.
In the second half, Manchester United looked much more aggressive and in the 62nd minute they equalized. Marcus Rashford took advantage of a mistake in Watford's penalty area and directed the ball into the opponent's goal.
Manchester United tried to score a second goal after the equalizer, but in the 83rd minute they were punished with another opponent's goal. Juan Zuniga, who had only been on the field for a minute, led the Swans forward again after a precise pass from Roberto Pereyra.
It was very difficult for Manchester United to recover after conceding a goal and in the 95th minute Troy Deeney finished the visitors' ordeal with a powerful shot from the penalty spot, sealing the victory with a score of 3-1.
Having suffered two defeats in the Premier League, Manchester United dropped to 9th place with 9 points, while Watford, who secured their second victory, climbed to 8th place.
