The head coach of the Dutch national football team, Louis van Gaal, has selected his squad of 26 players to compete for the World Champions title.
Somewhat unexpectedly, joining the team in Qatar will be the nineteen-year-old PSV striker Xavi Simons, who has never played for the national team before. However, it cannot be said that the youngster did not deserve his chance, as he has already scored 10 goals in 21 matches this season.
Players left out of the squad include Sven Botman ("Newcastle United"), Ryan Gravenberch ("Bayern"), and Brian Brobbey ("Ajax").
