At the helm of the "Lyon" club stands French football specialist Rudi Garcia.
On Monday, in a statement released by the club, it is stated that the contract with the new coach is valid until 2021. The 55-year-old R. Garcia will replace the dismissed Brazilian coach Sylvinho at Lyon.
In 2011, R. Garcia was voted the best coach in the French league when he led the "Lille" club to the championship title and won the country's cup.
Later, the Frenchman worked in Italy, achieving second place in Serie A in 2014 with "Roma". In 2016, he returned to his homeland and took charge of the "Marseille" team, leading them to the final of the Europa League in 2018, but they lost to Madrid's "Atletico".
Since mid-August, the struggling "Lyon" players in France have only collected 9 points in 9 matches in the "Ligue 1" tournament and currently occupy the 14th place. R. Garcia will make his debut in Lyon next Saturday in a home match against the "Dijon" club (8 points), which he himself coached from 2002 to 2007.
