The Barcelona "Espanyol" club confirmed that Mexican Javier Aguirre is taking over as head coach following the dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino on Monday.
The 53-year-old specialist has previously coached other Spanish clubs such as Pamplona's "Osasuna", Madrid's "Atletico" and "Real Zaragoza".
According to reports, J. Aguirre has reached an agreement with the Catalan club until the end of this season.
At the moment, the "Espanyol" team is in last place in the Spanish "Primera" championship standings.
