The new head coach of the Greek team is Czech Zdenek Scasny, who replaced Israeli Itzhak Schum, who left the team a few days ago.

Schum led the team to the group stage of the Champions League, winning the Greek championship and league cup, but was blamed for the club's loss in the Champions League match against Eindhoven.

The 47-year-old Scasny is not entirely new to the Greek club - he previously worked at the club as a scout.

Scasny, a former fairly well-known Czech footballer, has coached teams such as Crete's OFI Crete (2003), Prague's (1998-99), and FK Viktoria Zizkov (1998-2002).

Due to a serious Achilles tendon injury, a Lithuanian defender cannot currently play for Panathinaikos club.
