This Saturday officially kicks off the 2023-2024 season of the Lithuanian women's indoor soccer championship, where 12 teams will compete.
The teams are divided into two regional groups. Until January 28, they will play five rounds each. It is worth noting that the matches will not only take place at renowned indoor soccer centers like Vilnius, Gargždai, or Garliava, but also in smaller towns that will host championship matches for the first time, such as Kalvarija and Rietavas.

The two best teams performing in the regional groups will advance to the semifinals, while the remaining teams will play for the final championship positions on February 3-4.
The competition will culminate in the final four event, scheduled for February 10 or 11. It is worth mentioning that the title defenders this season will be Gargždai's "Banga," who claimed the main futsal trophy for the first time in their club's history in Birštonas in 2023.
"We are pleased to have a larger number of participating teams this year, which shows that futsal is becoming more interesting for our football community. Futsal is an intense sport, the small field size requires constant movement and fast gameplay, encouraging tactical thinking in players. They must be proactive and quickly adapt to situations, tactical movements, as well as make quick decisions, especially requiring technical skills such as ball control, accurate shots, fast and precise passes.
This sport encourages players to improve their skills and become better technical football players. Therefore, during the winter season when mainstream football "sleeps," I am glad to see players who continue to be active at this time. Let's not forget that the futsal championship provides the opportunity for local communities to come together and support their teams. Such events can become a tool for community building, promoting friendship and unity," noted LMFA General Director Milda Liuzinaite.
