"Zenit" team confirmed that the team has signed a two-year contract with coach Mircea Lucescu.
Lucescu worked as the coach of "Shakhtar" for twelve years, where he won the Ukrainian champions title eight times and in 2009 won the UEFA Cup. The 70-year-old will replace Andre Villas-Boas in this position, who decided not to extend his contract with the Russian club.
In his last season, Lucescu led "Shakhtar" to the Europa League semi-finals, where the Ukrainians lost 3-5 to the future champions, Sevilla. He was unable to win the local championship as the team "Dynamo" became the champions.
