Today marks the start of the 61st Champions League tournament, so I want to present you with a general table of this tournament (including qualifying matches). You will find the top 20 teams of all time in the tournament and I will briefly review the performances of Lithuanian teams.

Number of Participants

Since 1955, 531 teams from all over Europe participated in the Champions League tournament (including qualifiers). Among these teams are 4 clubs from Lithuania: FBK Kaunas, Kaunas "Karėda", Panevėžio "Ekranas" and Vilnius "Žalgiris".

Various Numbers

The team that has played the most matches is Madrid's "Real" team, with 397 matches. Following them is another Spanish giant, "Barcelona", with 278 matches. In third place is "Manchester United" with 262 matches. The fewest matches were played by 2 teams, with over half a hundred from various countries from the Baltic to the Mediterranean sea. It is interesting to note that Madrid's "Real" reached the final 14 times and won it 11 times, impressive numbers.

Performances of Lithuanian clubs

The team that has played the most matches among the "Lithuanians" is FBK Kaunas, with 28 matches and earning 39 points. Following them is "Ekranas" with 20 matches and 18 points. In third place is Vilnius "Žalgiris" with 12 matches and 8 points. And the fourth team is Kaunas "Karėda" with 4 matches and 1 point.
