Italian "Serie A" outsider club will be sold at auction this month. After the industrial giant "Parmalat" went bankrupt, the club, left without an owner, was managed by temporary administrators.
"Parma" will be sold at auction. Last month there was a lot of interest in the club, so we believe that this decision is the right one," said the club's director Roberto Cappelli to the newspaper "Gazzetta di Parma."
"If we act quickly - and it will depend on the buyer - the new owner may still have time to "shop" in the winter transfer market," said R. Cappelli.
The future of the twice UEFA Cup winning Italian club was hanging by a thread in December 2003, when the industrial giant "Parmalat", which also owned the football team, went bankrupt.
Last year, the club announced that it was acquired by former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanzas, but the deal ultimately fell through.
This time, the starting price at the auction will be significantly lower than the 27.5 million euros we asked for earlier," said R. Cappelli.
In the 20-team Italian championship, "Parma" is in second to last place, with 12 points from 18 matches played.
The club, founded in 1913, has had stars such as Gianluigi Buffon, Fabio Cannavaro, Filippo Inzaghi, Alberto Gilardino, Gianfranco Zola, Hernan Crespo, and Adriano play for them and earn their names.
