Yesterday and today, four French Cup quarterfinal matches were played, after which all four semifinal participants were determined.
On Tuesday, lower league clubs "Amiens" and "Dijon" competed against each other, as well as "Brive" and "P.S.G" teams, and today their strength was tested by "Nantes" and "Chateauroux" teams.
The "Amiens" club, playing in the second French division, unexpectedly lost to the lower division "Dijon" team. The only goal of the match was scored by "Dijon" player Heinzmann in the last minute of the game.
In the duel between "Brive" and "P.S.G", there were no surprises. Although "Brive" took the lead after a goal by Thomo Foresto in the 15th minute, just 12 minutes later, "P.S.G" legionnaire from Portugal Pedras Pauleta equalized the score, and in the 59th minute, Reinaldo put the Paris team in the lead.
The clash between two "Ligue 1" teams was won by "Nantes", who are currently higher in the tournament table, beating "Rennes" club 3-2. After the first half ended with a goal by Cedrico Barbosa in the last minute, "Rennes" players took the lead, but that was the only goal for their team in this match. After the break, "Nantes" players scored three consecutive goals against the opponent's goalkeeper and maintained their lead until the end of the match. In the last minute of the match, "Nantes" scored another goal, but into their own net, done by Nicolas Gilletas.
The biggest surprise was recorded in the recently ended match between Monaco, where the local "Monaco" team lost 0-1 to the "Chateauroux" team from Ligue 2. The leaders of the French league conceded a goal in the 19th minute when the ball ended up in their net after Sidibe's shot. After such a start to the match, "Monaco" was unable to recover and were forced to withdraw from further competition.
