Last December, the football world was shaken by an incident in Turkey when a club president attacked a referee on the pitch after a match.

The focus at that time was on the now-former president of the „Ankaragucu“ club, Faruk Koca, who decided to reprimand referee Umut Meler in a rather peculiar way after the draw against „Rizespor“.

The well-known referee in Europe received a blow to the face, and such behavior from the president of „Ankaragucu“ even drew condemnation from Turkish President Erdogan.

Almost a year after the incident, F. Koca received a real punishment. AS reports that the former club president has been sentenced to three years and seven months in prison for intentionally injuring a public figure.
