The provocative question "Ballon d'Or" upset the public at the awards ceremony.

On Monday, a historic event took place in women's football - for the first time at the "Ballon d'Or" awards ceremony, the "Golden Ball" was presented to the best female footballer on the planet.

The recipient was Ada Hegerberg, representing both "Lyon" and the Norwegian women's national team. However, the presentation of the "Golden Ball" was not without scandalous incidents, which caused a wave of outrage in the online space.

One of the hosts of the "Ballon d'Or" ceremony - DJ Martin Solveig - asked A. Hegerberg during the ceremony if she could "twerk" on stage during a music interlude, in other words - perform a sexually suggestive dance.

The footballer was somewhat taken aback by such a question, but without hesitation replied "no" and returned to her seat.

Amidst a huge uproar in the online space, the French DJ decided to apologize to the footballer on his Twitter account and added that he did not intend to offend anyone.

"People, I am a bit surprised and shocked by what I am reading online. Of course, I did not want to offend anyone. It happened... due to my English language level and English cultural level, which, obviously, is not high enough. It was a failed attempt, probably, and I want to apologize to those whom I may have offended," the man said in a video recording.

Ada Hegerberg herself was not particularly affected by the DJ's statement: "To be honest, I didn't even realize that was going on, and I'm sad if people see the situation that way. Later he came to meet me and apologized. The most important thing is the "Ballon d'Or."
