The Spanish Football Federation today announced the full schedule of the 2017-18 La Liga season. The defending champion Real Madrid will start the season in the Spanish championship with La Karunja, when on August 20th Zinedine Zidane's coached club will face the local Deportivo.
Barcelona, aiming to regain the title next season, will play the opening match of the season at the Camp Nou stadium. Ernesto Valverde's team will host Sevilla's Real Betis on the same day as Real Madrid hosts Sevilla.
Atletico Madrid will face the league debutant Girona in the first La Liga match. The season opener will also feature some intriguing matches - Real Sociedad will face Celta, while Sevilla will play against Espanyol.
The first El Clasico match will take place on December 20th - Real Madrid will host Barcelona at home. The end of the season promises an intriguing finish - the second El Clasico match will take place in the 36th round. This time, Barca will play at home, with the match scheduled for May 6th.
Also to be awaited is the Madrid derby - the first clash on November 19th will take place at the new Atletico stadium, while the second city derby match will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on April 8th.
The Spanish championship will start on August 20th and end on the same day next year, in May.
