On Saturday, four matches of the 26th round were played in the Spanish "Primera" division.
Athletic Bilbao, supported by a large crowd at the "San Mames" stadium, clashed with Madrid's Real team. The "white" team, who looked blankly, suffered a 1-0 defeat against the Basques.
The match started quite intensively and both teams pressured each other. Nevertheless, success accompanied the hosts, who broke through in the 26th minute. Aritz Aduriz, who received a perfect pass from Mikel Rico, headed the ball past Iker Casillas.
Throughout the rest of the first half, Carlo Ancelotti's team tried to equalize the score, but they did not create any particularly dangerous opportunities in front of Athletic's goal, and the score remained in favor of the Basques.
The next 45 minutes were slightly better for the Real club in terms of gameplay. The "Whites" pressed their opponents, but the first serious opportunity for the "whites" only came in the 83rd minute, when Gareth Bale struck an amazing shot from about 30 meters out, but the ball hit the crossbar.
This is the second consecutive failure for the Real team, even though they played a draw in the previous round. After dropping points, Barcelona will have the opportunity to push the royal club out of the top spot tomorrow.
In other matches, Deportivo La Coruna could not resist Sevilla's resistance, while Granada and Elche secured minimal victories.
