Madriddo "Real" sports director Jose Angel Sanchez, speaking to the Spanish press, not only talked about possible transfers but also about players who could leave the team.
However, the long-time main face of "Real" transfers did not name the players who could strengthen the club this winter. He only singled out one current "Real" team midfielder in whom the club has great hopes.
J. Sanchez revealed that the royal club received numerous offers for 23-year-old midfielder Mateo Kovacic, but the club has no intention of parting ways with this player.
"Kovacic is not for sale - we will never sell him," said the sports director. "We will reject all offers that we receive in January. Last summer, there were offers from clubs like 'Inter' and 'Tottenham', but we had no doubts about his future."
"Mateo is a smart guy. He understands very well that he could be a strong starting lineup player in any other team, but he knows how we value him and we want him to have the same position in our team.
"He is one of those players on whom the future of this club will depend," J. Sanchez concluded.
M. Kovacic became an important player in Zinedine Zidane's team last season, but the beginning of this season went unsuccessfully for the Croatian - he suffered an injury in the middle of September and only returned to the lineup last week.
Since arriving in Madrid in 2015, M. Kovacic has played a total of 79 matches for the "white" team, scored three goals, and won seven titles.
