Gerard Pique yesterday announced that after Saturday's match with "Almeria" he will leave "Barcelona" and officially end his professional career.
The legendary Catalan represented the "Barça" club for 14 years, during which he won three Champions League titles and eight "Copa del Rey" and "La Liga" trophies.
"Mundo Deportivo" journalist Fernando Polo identified the reasons why the 35-year-old center-back decided to retire from professional football. There was not just one reason.
Lately, G. Pique's personal situation has been difficult, and the team's fans also treated the defender very unpleasantly after the last poor match against the "Inter" team.
F. Polo adds that the defender promised the team's head coach Xavi that he would leave the team if he doesn't get playing time.
