At the end of this summer, RB Leipzig center-back Josko Gvardiolas was actively linked with Chelsea team, but ultimately signed a new contract with his current club - until 2026.
The Telegraph journalist Matt Law reports that the 20-year-old Croat's contract includes a buyout clause of £43.6 million.
Chelsea continues to pursue the defender.
The "Aristocrats" are also nearing the acquisition of another RB Leipzig player Christopher Nkounkou. The Frenchman will join the club next season.
J. Gvardiolas is also linked with Tottenham and Manchester City clubs.
