In the past, the well-known German footballer Eike Immel is living without a penny. During his career, the 63-year-old celebrity earned more than one million, but managed to waste all the money.

Now, the former goalkeeper of the German national team, "Man City", "Stuttgart" and Borussia Dortmund "Borussia", resides in his homeland in a social housing and often doesn't even have two euros in his account.

Having ended his professional career in 1997, E. Immel was forced to declare personal bankruptcy just 11 years later. At that time, his wife and children immediately left him.

"In the past, I had no financial problems. Sometimes I paid mobile phone bills amounting to 10,000 euros, bought a house for more than 1 million euros, but later the tax authorities knocked on my door and informed me that I had over 900,000 euros in unpaid debts."

"For ordinary people, this sounds unbelievable, but I never thought about my future."

"Now I live off a 1100 euro benefit, half of which goes towards rent and I have to manage with the remaining amount for the month. It's really tough, sometimes there are only 2 euros left in my account," said E. Immel.

"People have donated furniture to me, and one friend who owns a local restaurant sometimes allows me to eat for almost nothing. I am grateful for the help, but I didn't want everything to end like this."
