Roscello Vlijter, a 24-year-old guard with Dutch and Surinamese citizenship, will now represent the "Riteriai" club, currently leading in the "TopSport First League". The footballer, who grew up in the Feyenoord academy, has already represented the Surinamese national team ten times since 2019.
"We really needed a player with more experience, as well as clearly expressed leadership qualities. Rosello is a very suitable player for our playing philosophy: he is technical, stands out with non-standard decisions, especially quick thinking and good game reading, which is very important for a player in his position. I have no doubt that he will become a very important part of the team," said Vytautas Masaitis, sports director of "Riteriai", about the newcomer.
A guard who has played in the Netherlands, Cyprus, and Israel was left without a club for the last 4 months after the war broke out in Israel and he terminated his contract with the Kfar Saba "Hapoel" team.
For R.Vlijter, his arrival in Lithuania is a new career challenge.
"The first impressions are good because I arrived in a beautiful country and a friendly environment. The club took care of everything, so all I have to do is play well and help the "Riteriai" return to the A league, where we will aim for even greater goals. We are a young team hungry for victories and, at the same time, full of energy. We have a common goal and we will strive for it together," emotionally spoke the newcomer to "Riteriai".
In the first 10 rounds, "Riteriai" earned 25 points and lead the league. This Saturday at 16:00, the team will have a home match against Kretinga's "Minija".
