On Wednesday, August 30, the proposal to increase the financing for Vilnius "Žalgiris" football club by 500 thousand euros will be discussed at the meeting of Vilnius City Council, according to tv3.lt
The proposal to increase funding was registered on Monday by the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats faction of the municipality.
"Vilnius Žalgiris demonstrates high sports ambitions, which require more significant financial support. If we want the teams to successfully perform in European tournaments, we need to increase the budget allocation, which the city budget is steadily allowing to do," said A. Bužinskas, a member of the TS-LKD faction.
