The scandal continues: FIFA has started an investigation into the 2006 World Cup.

"To rid itself of corruption, FIFA has taken aim at Germany. On Tuesday, the BBC announced that an investigation has been launched into the allocation of the rights to host the 2006 World Cup to Germany.

Among the individuals under investigation is German football legend Franz Beckenbauer, who has won the World Cup both as a player and as a coach.

The FIFA Ethics Committee initiated legal proceedings immediately after examining a report submitted by the German Football Association.

In October, F. Beckenbauer admitted that he made a mistake during the process of allocating the rights and emphasized that he takes full responsibility.

In July 2000, both Germany and South Africa were competing to host the 2006 World Cup.

Germany received 12 votes, while South Africa received 11.

After the vote, it was revealed that one of the FIFA delegates, who would have voted for South Africa, refused to attend the elections."
