n Wednesday after a long wait due to the corruption scandal that shook Italian football this summer and its connections with referees in Rome, the schedule for the 2006/07 "Serie A" season was finally made. According to the schedule, on September 9th, the country's champion, Milano "Inter", will begin their title defense with a match against "Fiorentina".

Although the championship will officially start after playing all matches on Sunday, September 10th, the "Inter" match in Florence and the "Roma" club match against "Livorno" have been postponed from Saturday due to the Champions League tournament. Besides these matches, one of the most interesting matches in the first round will be the meeting between "Milan" and Rome's "Lazio" at the "San Siro" stadium.

The start of the season will be really hot, as the match between the favourites "Inter" and "Roma" clubs will take place already in the third round at the city's Olympic Stadium. This round will be one of those played in the middle of the week and will be held on September 20th, Wednesday.

The Milan derby between "Inter" and "Milan" will take place in the 9th round and will most likely be postponed to October 28th due to the Champions League, while the Rome derby, where "Lazio" and "Roma" will meet, will be played on October 10th in the 15th round.

If the winner is not determined until the last round, the hardest task among the favourites will most likely fall to "Inter", playing at home in the final match of the season on May 27, 2007, against "Torino", who has returned to the top league with many ambitions. Meanwhile, the "Roma" team will only face the "Messina" club, which stayed in the league due to "Juventus" relegation, and "Milan" will play away against "Reggina".

As already known, if the new appeals are not satisfied, five clubs implicated in the scandal will start the season with points deductions - "Fiorentina" will have a deficit of 19 points, "Reggina" 15, "Lazio" 11, and "Milan" 9. Meanwhile, one of the country's most famous clubs, Turin's "Juventus", will play in "Serie B" for the first time in their history and will start the competition with an away match against "Rimini".
