“Tottenham” searched for a new coach after the dismissal of Jose Mourinho for more than two months, but finally a new manager was introduced. It became former “Wolverhampton” strategist Nuno Espirito Santo. At the beginning of the coach search, names like Erik ten Hag, Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca, and even Mauricio Pochettino were mentioned as potential candidates. In all cases, negotiations either broke down or an agreement was simply impossible to reach. The hiring of the Portuguese also marks the first, one could say, work of the new “Tottenham” sporting director Fabio Paratici. Prior to this, N. Espirito Santo has managed clubs such as “Porto”, “Valencia”, and spent four years at the helm of “Wolverhampton”, where he achieved quite a lot. The Portuguese signed a contract with “Tottenham” until 2023.
