Surprise in the English Championship as Senegalese defender Ibrahim Sonko will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury suffered on January 20th.
Initially, it was expected that the damaged ligament would heal without the need for surgery, but later it became clear that an operation was necessary.
"We will greatly miss Sonko in the remaining part of the season," said Steve Coppell, the manager of Reading, who currently occupies the 7th place in the English Championship. "He is definitely a very important player in our team, but new players added to the squad will help compensate for his absence."
Reading has recently added defenders Michael Duberry, Greg Halford, and Alan Bennett to the team.
