The Spanish national team had a tough start in the crucial European Championship match against Slovakia. Nevertheless, Luis Enrique's squad managed to win 5:0 and secure the second place in Group E. The game started with a bizarre situation - a Slovak player, in a completely non-dangerous situation near the penalty area, kicked the opponent's leg while fighting for the ball, and after VAR review, the referee decided to award a penalty kick. M. Dubravka showed great reflexes and saved A. Morata's shot. However, the Slovakian goalkeeper didn't carry the hero's title for long - he failed to catch a slowly descending ball after 30 minutes and accidentally redirected it into his own net - 0:1. At the end of the first half, the score was doubled by A. Laporte - 0:2. The fate of the match was ultimately decided in the 56th minute, when P. Sarabia scored a goal. Two more goals were scored in the 63rd and 71st minutes, when F. Torres slipped and another misfortune within the Slovak ranks J. Kucka - 0:5.
