The story of S. Gerrard did not repeat itself: "Liverpool" took care of "Chelsea" at home

On Sunday, the highly anticipated 34th round of matches took place in the English Premier League.

In the title-targeted match, "Liverpool" hosted the footballers of London's "Chelsea." The "Reds" once again did not slip – they defeated their opponents with a score of 2:0 and remain in the fight for the Premier League title.

In these matches, the "Liverpool" team was satisfied with only a victory. From the start, the hosts' pressure was visible, which initially did not pose major problems for the "Chelsea" team.

In the first half, both teams did not shine in attack, but in the middle of the field, an intense battle took place.

The second half started like a page from a textbook for the "Liverpool" team – in the 51st minute after a superb pass from Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane scored, left completely unguarded at the opponent's goal line.

The "Chelsea" team suffered a painful blow, making it very difficult to recover. Just two minutes later, Mohamed Salah sealed the injured "beast" – the Egyptian unleashed a "bomb" from about 23 meters into Kepa's goal, which he could not save from the second goal.

The "Aristocrats" already had a two-goal deficit, but even after such a blow, they almost did not rise to fight for points. Eden Hazard soon had his chances to score, hitting the crossbar once and then shooting straight at Alisson.

"Liverpool" withstood these rival attacks and achieved a victory with a score of 2:0.

Jurgen Klopp's trainees returned to the top of the league table, although "Man City" has played one game less. The "Liverpool" team still has four more games to play in the league.

After the failure, "Chelsea" remains in fourth place, but they could still drop to seventh place.

Result:

"Liverpool" 2 - 0 "Chelsea"
51' [1 - 0] S. Mane
53' [2 - 0] M. Salah
